I have been on the struggle bus of motivation lately. Like…. it’s REALLY bad, but also hilarious to me in the sense that I’m clearly just winging life at this point. I have a dry erase board on my fridge, with the attempt to get more organized. It’s a good place to write notes/reminders. One of them says ‘Email Ray’, my physical therapist. It originally said ‘Email Ray before xmas’, but I erased the second half a week into the new year. So that’s where I’ve been mentally/emotionally lately. It’s a fun ride! 😂😂
So, here I am. Trying to get my life back on some sort of track. Everyone knows that feeling, even if they aren’t committed to being vulnerable to the point of telling people (let alone, the entire interwebz) when they’re in some weird funk. Honestly, I just think it’s a seasonal thing and it’s throwing me off because I don’t remember the last time I approached a winter season not excited. I’m coming off of an epic summer and just wasn’t ready for it to be over. At least Mother Nature has been delivering this winter!
One thing I’ve been doing more of to try to get motivation is listen to more podcasts. Not about anything in particular. Just life, and how people react to it. But, since I’m sure some things that I listen to are going to inspire some words to appear here from my head, we won’t go into what I’m listening to nowadays.
I was listening to a podcast and the way this chick said something really reminded me of a song that I hadn’t listened to in years (it came out when I was in high school, but has been some time since I last listened). So I hopped through the internet portals to find this song. Listened to it and saw that another song that I used to love was on that same album. Listened to the song, then really LISTENED to the song. And now we’re here.
I just think it’s always good to remind yourself that everyone gets stuck. Everyone has struggles, plateaus. We ALL struggle with forward motion. Go easy on yourself.
I’m working on my self-discipline, so hopefully you’ll see more from me sooner than later. Anyway, here’s an oldie (The song that got me to this one was Chapped Lips, Chapstick and Things Like Chemistry). Let me know what you do to stay motivated.
