I’ve had a lot of really good days lately. Been putting effort into seeing the positives, and the small, beautiful moments. The more I’ve been training my mind, the less effort it takes to positive.
In honor of the universal goal of having a good day, here’s one of my all time favorite songs. I never sat back to reflect on the lyrics until tonight, and it made me love this song even more. There are different themes that I’m interpreting that all correlate with each other, which is what makes this such a magical track. There’s the freeing feeling of being vulnerable, ‘just like they should’. And it rolls you into being an innocent child with no cares, playing with friends. Then it’s like ‘but, seriously, everyone is scared of growing old’. And then the song basically tells you ‘YOLO’. So here’s to smiling because we liked like.
To invite everyone I’ve known
Dead and alive
To a street where we can be
Finally free
Wearing their hearts on their sleeves, but oh
How good it felt to have them worn
Just like they should
Did everybody say what a good day that it was
For everybody here who said what a good day it was?
Did they smile ’cause they like it,
Did they? Whoa
Running circles around ourselves
Just for fun
And oh, how good it felt
To be young and loved
And feel it in our bones
Did everybody say what a good day that it was
For everybody here who said what a good day it was?
Did they smile ’cause they like it,
Did they? Whoa.
We got old and old age made us humble
You and I are alone
That it felt like this we were never told
And it scares us bad so we’ll have to be bold
But there’s still one thing that we need to know.
For everybody here who said what a good day it was?
Did they smile ’cause they like it,
Did they? Whoa
